Eko-Konnect

Eko-Konnect

Datasphir promoted and established the Eko- Konnect Research and Education Initiative in 2010, in collaboration with the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria and the University of Lagos, (www.eko-konnect.org.ng) to support network connectivity and collaborations between education and research organisations as part of wider efforts for sustainable National Research and Education Network (NREN).

Eko-Konnect exploits geographical proximity to sea cables and telecommunication companies to secure high-speed and affordable Internet connectivity which connects participating institutions in a high-speed network suitable for research and academic activities. Through this, Datasphir facilitate collaboration with regional and global Research and Education Network (REN) communities to operate the “ren.ng” cloud infrastructure, which currently provides several services, including the Nigerian Identity & Access Federation (eduid.ng), national education roaming (eduroam) and digital learning platforms.
